Golden Care is seeking a full time Maintenance Officer to join its team at its 230 bedded care home in Naxxar. Our employees are dedicated to empowering our customers to lead richer, fuller lives through the provision of good quality person centred care and stellar ancillary services.
The selected candidate will be responsible for all Maintenance operations reporting to the CEO, maintaining productivity and efficient response when addressing inter-departmental maintenance requests throughout the care home services as well as when managing subcontractors’ contracts and maintenance agreements entered into and/or any other maintenance requests which are deemed necessary during the operation.
The role revolves around good communication and a high degree of organisational skills. The Maintenance Department shall be instrumental in inducing ‘Positive First and Last’ impressions in staff and residents alike by ensuring that residents and staff receive the very best possible experience. Therefore, duties are likely to include the following work/tasks:
Performing repair or general Maintenance work of facilities, buildings, grounds, and equipment at various sites including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, glazier, and painting tasks.
Repairing and treating structures such as showers, floors, sinks, walls, carpets and roofs.
Performing minor repairs, troubleshooting, and adjustment of locks on cabinets, locks, closets, desks.
Repairing door hinges, cleaning plugged key slots, changing filters on ventilating, heating, and air conditioning units.
Servicing kitchen, pantry appliances, and emergency equipment, reporting mechanical malfunctions to party for action whilst liaising with the catering contractor being also the provider of main care home’s kitchen
Moving and assisting in transportation of furniture and equipment.
Setting up and breaking down cubicle partitions, exercising discretion to identify projects that need higher skilled crafts individual’s services.
Compiling and managing preventative maintenance schedules across all care home areas in order to ensure that maintenance service is proactive rather than reactive
Liaison with all building, finishes and operational contractors as well as third party stakeholders involved in the maintenance and upkeep on the Care Home in general.
Creating a structured documentation and logging system which keeps track and audit trail of departmental requests raised, jobs in progress and others completed.
Responsible for any other maintenance and/or technical job/task deemed necessary by the Care Home’s Management
Other Routine Responsibilities
Compilation of departmental operational policies and procedures under the direction of the CEO
Setting up of Maintenance Stores including the setting up of a transparent procedure covering the consumption and utilisation of same stock
Compilation of initial stock list covering maintenance consumables and tools necessary to carry out the maintenance jobs necessary.
Carrying out of monthly stock inventory
Adherence to departmental budget both in terms of capex and recurrent expenditure

Enhance own development by taking responsibility for staying informed and up to date with industry knowledge.
Contribute to the learning environment by identifying areas where there is potential for learning and building knowledge with others.
Adopt a personal development plan in order to advance, which program may be in-house or sponsored.
